MES Mother of Honor,
Frances J. Lee-Humphrey
(1943 – 2023)

In 1943, the youngest daughter of Willie and Julia Lee, Frances Julia, was born on February 28th in the Barnwell County of Blackville, South Carolina. In 1944, in an effort to restart their lives after tragedy, the Lee family relocated to New York City after their Blackville, South Carolina home burned down.

At an early age, Frances became a baptized member of the Brooklyn, NY-based Morning Dew Baptist Church. Frances enjoyed singing in the Young Peoples Choir, as well as in a group of young girls who performed at various churches. Frances also participated in the churches’ Willing Workers Young Peoples Group. Coming from a musical family, naturally Frances loved music, her favorite performers were The Isley Brothers, Phylis Hyman, The O’ Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, The Whispers and The Stylistics.

Frances was a loving thoughtful, giving and caring person who enjoyed her life with great pleasure and laughter. Frances also showed her love by cooking fine meals for families and friends. Among their favorites were her Peas and Rice with Beef Stew, homemade Sweet Potato Pie and delicious Stuffing.

Frances love and leadership is the reason why CEO Murphy has the solid foundation he has in those categories… not to mention she’s the reason why he can cook!!
